Harryhausen’s penultimate film may have looked a little old-fashioned in the
year that saw the release of a couple of other special-effects-centric fantasy
flicks, but all these decades later, his stop-motion baboon, troglodyte, and saber-tooth
tiger still have the power to charm. Keep an eye out for Peter Mayhew as the
Minoton. He was a busy boy in 1977.
