366 Days at the Drive-In: Day 185

The Date: April 2

The Movie: Alice (1988)

What Is It?: No filmmaker has ever been able to convey the baffling, brilliant wordplay that is the engine within Lewis Carroll’s surreal fantasy adequately. Jan Švankmajer basically discards language all together to distill Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland down to a series of profoundly creepy, dirty-looking sequences staged with the master’s menagerie of grotesque puppets. Be sure to gather your kids to watch this one! Especially if you hate your kids.

Why Today?: Today is International Children’s Book Day.
